2015 Favorites – A Year in Review

January 9, 2016 Leave a Comment

CollageHappy 2016!!!  I hope this year is treating you well so far!

I know I am a little late to the game just posting my favorite recipes of 2015 and what not BUT we were away for the New Year in Aruba and just got back.  Definitely a much needed trip to reboot after the whirlwind that was 2015 (and let’s be serious…2014 and maybe part of 2013 as well).

And now I feel very ready and VERY excited to see what is in store for 2016!

But back to the post and 2015…I really loved writing this as it really allowed me to reflect on all that was wonderful about this year as I tend to associate special events and moments in my life with food/recipes.  Some of my favorite recipes from this year include….

These brown butter rice krispie treats….I didn’t know rice krispie treats could taste so good…seriously.  I made these after tasting a similar rice krispie treat in Starbucks and they are SO easy and SO fast to make.  In fact so much so that I have been adapting them to basically any holiday….ahem…4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving.  This coming Christmas I will need to do a peppermint version maybe?!

These brownies….YUM!!!!  I made them for the super bowl last year and they are now my go-to brownie…soft, chocolatey and just complete deliciousness.   This recipe is also super quick to whip up.  AND I have also been adapting these babies to different holidays and events….in fact…I even made it into a brownie cake for Valentines Day last year!!

This Sparkling Apple Cider Sangria is another YUM!  Definitely my new favorite sangria…I made this for my Friendsgiving dinner and for Thanksgiving…it is perfect for all that is Fall and well pretty much any time you are in the mood for a delicious drink….I mean apples, amaretto and champagne…can you really go wrong?!  The answer is no!

These delicious cookies are the newest spin on my favorite chocolate chip cookies and well they are just as delicious if not more so.  I made these for a BBQ Potluck dinner I held and they were a huge hit.  In fact I am still dreaming about them and may be putting them into skillet cookie form…double YUM!

These white chocolate cherry shortbread cookies were the winners at the Cookie Swap I went to this year and for good reason…they are delicious AND festive.  Definitely a new holiday favorite….they would also be cute as a Valentines Day treat…maybe with heart sprinkles instead of the holly?!

These Mango Sorbet Pops are delicious…my new favorite sorbet and frozen treat.  I think popsicles are so fun but you can always just keep them as just sorbet.  Perfect for an easy and somewhat healthier treat for during the week or a refreshing treat for company…especially when it gets too hot to turn on the oven!

I am always looking for new healthy weeknight meals that are just as easy and this Tomato, Spinach and Zucchini Quinoa with Goat Cheese fits the bill.  This is one of my new favorites…perfect for when you have lots of summer tomatoes and zucchini from the garden or anytime really.

I love this cheeseball…I made it for the Super bowl last year and for Friendsgiving this year.  It is easy to make AND can be made days ahead of time…perfect for entertaining…one thing that you can check off the to-do list days before an event!

I LOVE this snow ice cream…a perfect treat (and activity) for a snowy day!  Plus super simple to make…one reason to hate the snow a little less (or maybe love it a little more).

And last but not least…this Bacon Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread!  YUM!!!  I made it for the Super bowl and it was a big hit…DELICIOUS!!  Be warned…it is VERY dangerous…definitely better for a crowd so you don’t look up and realize you ate the whole thing.

Needless to say 2015 was a good year filled with some really great food!  Looking forward to all that is in store this coming year!
